About Idara Bassey

Bridging Law, Ethics, and Artificial Intelligence

I’m Idara Bassey—a lawyer, educator, and advocate for responsible technology governance. My work sits at the intersection of law, ethics, and innovation, where I help people understand how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, shape our rights, identities, and societies.

As the creator and host of Hey AI I explore how technology impacts our everyday lives, from the data we unknowingly share to the algorithms that influence our decisions. The goal isn’t just to discuss technology; it’s to humanize it.

When I started Hey AI, I wanted to create a space where complex tech conversations could feel personal, engaging, and real. AI isn’t just a topic for coders or policymakers; it’s a human story. It’s about privacy, fairness, creativity, and the kind of future we want to build.

Each episode brings together ideas from law, ethics, and innovation, asking one central question:

How can we develop technology that serves humanity, rather than the other way around?

Before launching Hey AI I worked in corporate legal practice and compliance, advising organizations on data protection, intellectual property, and emerging technology regulation. My experience in both law and governance showed me how powerful and vulnerable our digital systems have become.

That realization inspired my mission: to translate complex policy and legal concepts into everyday language that empowers people and drives accountability in the technology sector.

I hold a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property and Technology Law and have worked across various sectors, bridging law, policy, and innovation, from corporate compliance to research and advocacy.

At its heart, Hey AI is about building trust in technology by fostering literacy, ethics, and transparency in the way we design and deploy AI.

Understanding technology is the first step to reclaiming power in the digital age.

If we can make people care about how AI works, we can make them care about who it works for.
